DRILLING CONCRETE LINTELS
Drill the holes using a 6 mm diameter masonry drill bit in a hammer action drill. Fix the brackets using the red plugs and 1.5″ length screws supplied.
DRILLING PLASTER COVERED STEEL LINTELS
Steel lintels are usually found in more modern houses. Drill the holes initially using a 6mm diameter masonry drill bit. Some steel lintels are perforated and covered with plaster. If your masonry drill goes through simply place a rawlplug into the hole and fix the bracket.
You will probably find that the masonry drillbit penetrates a few millimetres and will go no further. Change to a 3.8mm diameter high speed steel type drill and finish drilling the hole. Do not use the hammer action and try to drill using as slow a speed as possible.
When the holes are complete self tap into the holes using the No.8 x 1 1/2″ screws supplied.
